My Apologies

It has been a long, too long, since I’ve written a blog.  However, that’s only because the US Open was an incredible success, for all parties involved – the USTA, the fans, the players (not to mention our business).  Since it has been a whole week since its transpired, I’ll spare you most of my thoughts regarding the tournament.  Instead I’ll just give you a few and give a rundown of links from other, more qualified writers.

1. Roger Federer is back, and he will almost definitely break Sampras’ all time Singles Grand Slam Titles record.  He needs one to tie, two to break it.  Barring injury, if I had to bet on it, I’d actually bet on him breaking it next year.

2. All that said about Federer, Nadal was clearly the story of 2008.  However, if he wants to continue to dominate tennis at the rate he did, he may need to pare down his schedule a bit.  It isn’t that he lost before another epic final against Federer, it is the way he played throughout the entire tournament.  He looked tired, made more errors, and in a nutshell, looked human for the first time since his match against Tsonga at the Australian Open.

3. Venus and Serena Williams are the best two female tennis players in the world.  The only reason they played in the Quarterfinals is that they have not played enough to be ranked numbers 1 & 2, and until they do will always run the risk of meeting up before the finals.
